Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration


Program Description
Tulsa Tech’s Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program provides a solid background for attractive employment in a very stable industry. You will study both residential and commercial cooling and heating
systems in a cutting-edge facility. You will learn about hydronic systems, air duct sizing, air and water balancing procedures, psychometrics of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, heat pumps and installation procedures. You will develop diagnostic skills as well as apply repair and servicing techniques through troubleshooting and work on live equipment. With the opportunity to earn valuable industry certifications, you may enter the workforce or opt to apply credit toward an associate degree and beyond.



Program Hours and Length
•High school students - 1,050 class hours.
--Two-year program beginning in August.
•Adults - 1,050 class hours
-- May enroll at various times throughout the year.
-- Three to six hours daily.
•Morning session -- 8:00 - 11:00am.
•Afternoon session -- 12:00 - 3:00pm.



Tuition
•No charge for high school students within Tulsa Tech District.
•Adults - $2.50/hour; $2,625.00/total program cost (approximately).*



Books and Supplies
•No charge for high school students within Tulsa Tech District.
•Adults - books/$110.



Prerequisite
None



College Credit
May earn college credit toward an associate degree in applied science from Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee or Tulsa Community College.



Credentials and Industry Certifications
Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Competency Certification.

Upon completion of HVAC/R, students with a “C” average or above and more than 990 hours of attendance will receive a certificate representative for two of the three years’ apprenticeship required to qualify for taking the State of Oklahoma HVAC/R journeyman’s licensing test.
